Writing has always come natural for me, my creative and artistic spirit required me to spend much of my childhood living inside of my head. I came up for air only for the occasional visual stimulation. Even then, I would have described myself as both the most introverted and extroverted person one would ever meet. That duality was confusing and unsettling to some, myself included, which caused me to dive deeper into my journals. Unleashing each expression is where I eventually discovered my passion for writing and communicating. It was at this point that I decided that we each have a story that is worthy of sharing with the world.
I freed myself by journeying outside of myself and also helping others do the same by listening and articulating their stories. I have also come to a greater understanding, through my interviews, that everyone has a story worthy of being heard. It is through others’ stories that we begin to unravel that we are more alike than we realize. I am a believer that as we gain a better understanding of who we are, we then begin to understand that we are all connected. By experiencing that human connection, eventually fear begins to dissipate and space for creating unity expands.
